Hello, I am new to this forum so please do not shoot me if I breech proper etiquette. My business, Brit Bikes n Bits recently purchased the entire inventory of "take off" parts from Matt at Colorado Norton Works that some of you may be familiar with. He is now only selling his own incredible Norton parts and no longer building complete bikes. In the past, the "cores" he obtained were stripped of all the parts he would replace...many of which were from low milage bikes. We are now in the process of sorting these parts and will make them available on our site...britbikes.com...as soon as we can. Now to my question. In sorting out the maybe 100 fork sliders obtained, I found what I consider to be a rare bird.. A "round" disc brake slider...not oval. I assume this would be very early Commando. I have done numberous searches but found nothing. Any of you Norton "Yodas" out there have any insight on this? Part number if different? I have 06-0351 as LH Drum, 06-0352 as RH Drum, O6-3318 as LH Disc and 06-3316 as RH Disc. Assumpton is drum=round, disc=oval. As with all things British...only hard fast rule is...there are no hard fast rules. I thought the round ones were for drum brakes, the oval ones came in for disc brake for 72 model year,

Round disc brake slider and CNW parts
My understanding as well and why I made this inquiry. As previously stated, in the hundred or so sliders I got from CNW, I actually found two of these...Timing side, disc brake and round...so my assumption was maybe late 71 (rumors out there that there were some disc brake bikes produced then) or early 72. No biggie one way or another...just oddballs. I would post a photo but you really can't tell the round from the oval very well. Thanks for the input, Jesse

earlier Commando were round as you say, but I will leave it to others to give the years involved. ( I have one or two of both with some spares I bought in 2019)
