There's a guy flogging a Rotary rear light here: https://www.nortonownersclub.org/classifieds?page=item&id=1827 .
Looks like a 1990 Transit lamp cluster to me. Is it really what's fitted to a Rotary 'cos I've got some Transit parts somewhere you can have.
Ian Loram is not just "some…

It's actually a Vauxhall/ Opel part
It wouldn't have made economic sense to produce a custom part for a low volume bike like the Commander, so the factory used a UK Vauxhall Nova rear light on the offside and a left hand drive Opel Corsa rear light on the nearside. This was done because the opposite lights have a clear reversing light.

Thank you Robin. It looked…
Thank you Robin. It looked obvious that it was a rear light cluster from a van or car. But these are very definitely left and right handed units and I couldn't see how you would use this on a bike. Your reply explains everything. Don't have any Vauxhall stuff in the shed though.

This was not the original as…
This was not the original as fitted by Norton. The light cluster I bought from the club and fitted to my IP2 was from a Norton Rotary Classic that I transformed into a Classic lookalike. It was a one piece light cluster that fitted neatly behind the dual seat I made up from the original single seat.
I now have another IP2 [and 1962 650ss and a CCM Maverick]. I know I am trying to re-live my lost youth, and not too successfully at that, but I really would like to buy another original Classic light cluster again. Any one got one hiding at home under that bench, but its rarer than hens teeth?

Ian Loram is not just "some guy" flogging tat in the Classifieds. He has been a Norton devotee and supporter of the NOC for years. The 30 Nortons forming the display at the Solihull factory were sourced from his personal collection of 60+ bikes, and his son Dom is the club's Publicity Officer.
I have no connection with him, but felt I needed to put the record straight. Rant over.
