Re: 74 Commando

Forums

Thanks to all the members who offered helpful advice about the starting issue, it may sound very basic and mundane to you experienced Norton riders but to a complete novice it makes a big difference. My only previous experience with a kick start bike was my very first bike, a Yamaha FS1E....

Next time I visit the UKI hope to call at a branch meeting, probably in Yorkshire where I can discuss (unashamedly) the nuances and a niggles of starting, running and enjoying afantastic bike.

Hi Greg. Like you i am a Norton novice having recently bought a 72 750 Commando and have had to several times ask with cap in hand for sound advise from the club whom i have to say have been fantastic, friendly and sympathetic. My Commando has a Mikuni carb fitted not for the die hards maybe but wow is she easy to start. i do own another British bike that is running on twin amals and it did take some setting up to start and run smoothly. Good luck and hope you have as much fun riding yours as i do mine. Mark

Cheers Mark, all the bits of advice add up and its worth the odd bit of frustration once you hear the engine tone...
