Can anyone provide the RAL blue colour for 1972 JPN race bike - or the Donington 961 Mick Grant tribute bike. Mr Google has drawn a blank!

Hillan mind petrol blue
Springs to mind. RAL was not used at the time. BS numbers were but as I remember the colour description was Hillman Minx petrol blue. That may translate to some BS number if you can find a reference document. Steve spray did mine in Llandow but it must be 20 years ago. J

Thanks for your replies guys. I did think of Norman White but know how busy he is, so thought I would try the forum first. Your bike looks good George and colour looks close enough for me.

A couple of years ago, when I decided to make my bike a little bit more distinctive I too wondered what colour it was. Wise heads said ask Norman White or Dream Machine as they did the 961 Mick Grant bikes.
A call to Norman and he suggested that it was a Ford colour.
A look at 1970's Ford colours showed one called Electric/Monza Blue.
I sprayed my 650 this colour and I feel it is about 'right'.
I have attached a pic of the can, and a pic of my bike next to a 961 MGR so you can make your own mind up.
