Powdercoat on brake drum ?

Forums

Could anyone advise on the use of powdercoat on the rear brake drum of my 1972 manufacture Commando . It is the quick wheel remove type. My concern is any heat generated by braking.

I have no experience with powdercoat finishes - I had planned on painting all chassis components with Imron as I have done in the past but the replacement main frame from AN came prefinished in powdercoat so I would like to do the remaining components to match.

I would do only the exterior of the drum - none on the sprocket or mating surfaces in the area of the Cush Drive lugs .

Any advice on this would be appreciated.

I wouldn't worry about heat, my barrel is powdercoated. Just make sure the powdercoater knows the studs, mating and braking surfaces are not to be coated.
