I fitted a combined charge and low pressure oil warning light and pressure sensor to my 750 a while back.
Yesterday, rolling along minding my own business, the warning light began a frantic flashing of imminent destruction and possible injury. When I stopped the back tyre was dripping with oil along with everything rear of the gearbox. The oil sensor banjo bolt had unscrewed proving the sensor worked as intended.
I'm not blaming the items construction for the problem, I'd had a persistent oil leak going on for over a week which looked to be from the sensor to case fitting and had fitted fibre washers thinking the copper washers weren't squashing enough. The leak turned out to be from the pressure relief cap nut copper washer being too thin allowing the nut to top out on the relief valve thread. But I left the fibre washers on the banjo fitting thinking they'd held up OK. I'll be annealing and fitting the copper washers and try to get a drop of thread lock on the banjo bolt thread.
The oil had dropped to the tip of the dipstick and after removing the oil from the tyre by riding up and down a grass verge I took it easy the 5 miles home.
