Norvil head steady adjustment

Could anyone confirm for me the correct setting?

Just checked mine and there is .035" clearance on LHS and .015" on the RHS, total .050" which seems way too much. I understand the correct figure is .010", but is that the TOTAL figure or should it be .010" on each side?

Thanks in advance

Alright David, ideally you want aminimum amount ofclearance, usually between .006''-.010'' total clearance, .003''-.005'' either side, but really it's down to what you find as acceptable with fererence to vibration. As you have unequal clearances on either side, then first of all you need to make sure the head steady is as central as you can get with reference to the tube bolted to the cylinder head and the side plates bolted to the frame. More than likely all the isolastic planes will be out of parallel which adds to vibration transmitted to the rider. Google 'Worlds Straightest Commando' for full details, I will be offering this service in the future, Simon.
