Mudguards made in India

Forums

I read in the Roadholder of the trials and tribulations of buying an Indian made petrol tank on the internet but has any body bought any new mudguards now being made in India?

I am thinking of buying a pair of chromed guards for a 650SS but hesitate in case they do not fit .

Can anyone say they are satisfied with such a purchase?

Cheers Mick

Seen some being Re-sold on e-bay, that tells me something. Look at the shape of the lip at the front, We really need someone to show old and new together to get a picture.

Well that look right BUT! there not, why you may ask, First there in chrome thats the first big mistake why well there Not pre-drilled For the fixing holes and there are no wiring tags under the left hand side of the mudguard, and there is no stiffing plates where the main fixing hole should be ,ie top were it bolts through to the frame fitting holes are rear of the spring shockers next there should be two fixing holes for the rear stays and there is a bracing plate in the back of the mudguard there bracing plates are there to help stop the mudguard splitting down the sides ,so if its a chrome mudguard and you now have to drill the holes you will ruin the chrome work , it will rust like hell .and then there it the wiring tags for the wires that goes to the rear light , How are you going to hold there in place. NO tags. And How are going to stop the Mudguard Splitting When there is NO Brace plates welded in . now Do you See What I mean . You have to know you Parts and what they should look like. or you end up getting stung in your wallet !!! yours Anna J

I agree totally with Anna. Do not buy chromed mudguards that haven't been drilled prior to plating. The chrome will peel in no time. (Same with wheel rims). If you are going to buy new guards get the bare steel ones and then do the required drilling. This will ensure that you get a good fit. Also ensure that you have the internal clips on the rear to carry the brake/taillight wiring securely and that the front has the clip for the brake cable.

All that can be said for pattern mudguards is that they are mudguards. They are an opportunity for you to polish up your panel beating and fabrication skills. If you accept all that, they are better than nothing. Gordon.

hello The mot important Thing on A Slimline Rear Mudguard Is The Stiffing plates unside of the mudguard There welded in .there job is to put some strength in the mudguard and stop in spliting down the sides . yours anna j
