Hi Andy,

A friend of mine bought a pair for his Hinckley Triumph Bonneville, they sound MUCH better than the originals (not difficult) & the chrome looks better the the original too. They've only been on since about last May & haven't been out on any salted roads so can't comment on their longevity, but so far he seems very happy with them. I think he bought them direct from Brituro a little cheaper than he could get them elsewhere.

On my own 99 (1958) I have Armours silecers & pipes. The silencers are excelent although without the original seams,but the pipes are rubbish, the flange cracked off both of them & the bend is not as original & make it very difficult to get the silecers to sit correctly so thekick start misses the R/H one. (I had to make a modified bracket) Armours were not very helpfull when I contacted them regarding this.

Last year I bought my pipes & mufflers from Feked, they seem to have aheaver gauge pipe & the chrome on the pipes & mufflers seems very thick, I have been very happy with both, but I have only had them on for one year. The only weird thing is, you dont specify right or left, you just order 2 & they will ship one rh & one LH, seems strange that they dont do 2separatepart numbers? Here is a link and a pic:

It was cheaper for me to buy the Feked pipes & mufflers & pay shipping to the USA, than to buy a set over here, I was extremely happy with the quality & sound.

Hello Come on Chris. He is right hear . I have tryed Armours many a times and they tell me they cannot make anything NOW! As they do not have any tooling any more , and there getting there exhausts from other suppiers . offen the right hand pipe do not fit correctly .I also tryed RGM Motors . And had to send a pair of pipes back as they fitted so badly , And try getting silencers for a Norton Manxman . if you can ? near impossible ,The ones I have on my bike now are the Original ones made at Norton Factory In Bracebridge Street , made by there craftsmen ,In 1960 , And they would not of been easy too make ether ,And to day they would be very expensive to have them made ,it cost me £120 to have one re-chromed , and the Pipes too fit the silencers have to be right as the silercer as a welded on bracket , so no ajustment can be made. It seams too me that were loseing our craftsmen to make things like exhaust pipes and silencers , The Commados are all right as there plentyfull !

Now Colin, let's not start getting too personal. Not everyone's spelling, and grammar are perfect. I know Anna thinks I am slagging her off sometimes (not so), but I would never mock her English. True, she can hardly stop rabbeting on about her Manxman, and, a lot of her comments are totally irreverent to the original thread (so she is a grandma, I am a great-granddad, so what?!!). However, her heart is in the right place, and, at least, she makes an active contribution to these pages.

Hello Colin its not my spelling that the problem, Its me being able to see what ,I am putting down on the thread , I have a cataract on my right eye it puts the left eye out sometimes , And thanks for letting me know ,my spelling bad but I think you get my drift ,we need to stop getting at one-another over small mister meaners ,and pull together and help one-another and this will make for a better club

I have a lovely vision of Anna's Mister Meaners - small serious people with clipboards and attitude no doubt. However, let's not forget that this forum is about Nortons and not who did well in English at school. Anna does have plenty to contribute so let's just accept that it's her knowledge of Nortons which counts, not the way it is expressed.

For silencers and salt, when I get new silencers, I swill them internally with good quality primer and also paint the inward facing exterior (the area that's hard to clean and polish). So the bits of the silencers which are on view are nice and shiny and the hidden bits have extra protection. They then last for years and years.

I can only once again offer my humblest appologies for this unforgivable slip & ask you to rest assured that I have given myself a good telling off & as punishment have sentenced myself to sveral evenings of working on Lena's Navi, which also uses the same type silencer as the 99. (Just added that bit so I don't get another slap on the wrist for drifting off topic)
