Model 7 Armstrong rear shocks and tyre pump.

Forums

I am restoring a 1953 Model 7 with Armstrong rear shocks. The springs and covers are tidy but the damper units are tired. I tried Hagon at Stafford bike show but they could not help. Does anyone know of anyone who rebuilds damper units?. Secondly, should there be two lugs on the offside frame rail which runs top to bottom behind the oil tank to accept a tyre pump?. I have seen three frames none of which have lugs for a pump yet period and magazine pictures show one fitted. Regards, Phil.

Hi Phil,

I dont know of anybody that rebuilds shocks these days. Have you thought about buying new?

I have just bought some for a restoration of my own from, www.bikerevival.co.uk and they are a good copy of Girlings and a lot cheeper than Hagons. They evenmatch the spring rate to the weight of bike and rider. Hope this helps.

Regards Ken Routledge.
