Barry - I think you soak the wicks in a very heavy oil - 140 ish, and then glue the end plates onto the SA with a clear silicone sealant or Araldite.

Personally I think its a poor lube system and fitting a proper oil nipple would be best - the Americans do this all the time apparently.

Just one tip before fitting the bushes or any other (phosphor) bronze bushes Barry. I've always found bronze bushes used on most mechanical devices tobemicroscopically porous. To get the benefit of all those thousands of holes I recommend doing the following. Take an empty clean tin can and place the bushes init. Then pour in enough oil ofchoice (140grade here) to cover them. Place the can on a hot plate or take outside the house if you fear causing a fire and heat the tin slowly with a blow torch up to around 100 degrees C. As the oil heats up and also heats the bush you will see thousands of tiny air bubbles rising and fizzing from the bushes as the air trapped inside expands and is driven out of the bush. Stop heating and wait forthe bubbles to stop being driven off. Then simply wait (perhaps overnight) untill the oil cools down to room temperature. The remainingair within the bushes then contracts and draws in the oilto saturate the bush material right into its heart and in effect produces a self lubricating bushwhich must help reduce the rate of wear a touch. Sometimes little things like this can make a difference.
