mk3 oil line return to tank

The flow on the tank return is a continuse flow.This is the same after a 40 mile run and rises and falls with the engine rpms. Is this normal for a engine with a return filter or a sign of  to much oil in sump. thinking that the oil seal on the pump may be leaking  the bike rides fine on the road                                                                                                                                                                          thanks for help      regards         don scriven

My Combat has a similar condition using Morris 40sae oil, reconned pump with 60psi at the permanently fitted oil gauge and oil filter fitted.
I am not concerned about the volume of the returning scavenge flow as it is no where near the maximum that these pumps can deliver. At present!

 i am using the same oil but do not have a pressure gauge fitted so have no way of checking next step to fit one before taking timeing cover off  thanks don s
