heavy clutch action

Calling Commando experts
My Commando riding friend has severe arthritis in his clutch hand. He has tried to lighten the action by using a lined outer cable. The cable centres in the lever housing are the correct 7/8ths. I've heard you can cram another plate into the stack to lighten the action. Is this correct? Does it require a 'special plate' to be ordered, and from whom?

If you replace one of the standard 2mm steel plates with a thicker one:-

It make a difference, it certainly did on mine.

I also modified my sintered bronze plates to look the same as the hi-torque ones:-

That removed any tendency to slip on full load.

Hi Tony
Thanks for the speedy reply and the links to RGM. I looks like a thicker plate should make a significant difference to the action at the handlebar.
