Hi all - hope you are all well. I've got a '75 MkIII and am almost back on the road following a long refit. I noticed my headlamp silvering is a little oxidised and it has prompted me to thiink about the best lighting available. I will consider anything really, originality isn't a big thing with me, and thought perhaps a sealed beam might be best?? What're your thoughts Oh followers of the great Commando.

Cheers etc Peter.

Hi Peter,

Talk to Goffy - search norbsa on Google or details in OBM. I have the H4 upgrade fitted with a Osram or Phillips Nightbreaker lamp. The pilot is 20w but it melted the holder and wiring on the original holder, I informed him about this and Paul was most helpful. He now sells the metal pilot holders that can be fitted with higher rated wires and this will give no problems. At night it seems to give better road illumination than the modern projector style headlamps.

That's interesting to hear as exactly the same happened to me. The holder melted, the wire shorted down and I was lucky it was only a push home of less than a mile to find out what it was.

Chris,

If you can't find one - I have one spare in the garage, can post or will leave it at the Solent Branch Camping weekend.
