Dommie sidestand

Forums

Hi,

Just rejoined NOC after horrific bike accident 61/2 years ago. Had to sell my beloved Dommie88 Cafe as I didn't have any upper arm strength to use it. Now after so long I have purchased another Dommie cafe, 99 this time. Still am not fully fit but it's in the blood and against wife's wishes!

My problem is that the Dommie is in a slimline frame and is sitting on the parallel tubes and therefore I cannot fit a sidestand unless I fit it to the bend in the downtubes. This is totally useless as the bike is practically on its side when the sidestand is down.

I was told that a Commando leg is longer and could possibly be modified to fit a Dommie bracket.

Could anyone out there advise me, or do a modification for me?

The Dommie leg is 9.5" long. I would need 15.5" to have the bike sitting on the stand from the downtube.

Because of my lack of strength, the centre stand is useless to me, so my bike is currently parked and stagnant until I can find a solution to my problem.

If you can help, please get me back on the road again.

Go to RGM and ask for their prop stand as a complete unit, 050102. This is listed as £79.00. This is listed on page 39 of their catalouge. Their tele number is 01946 841517, abd their email is info@rgmmotors.co.uk. Thier web site is www.rgmmotors.co.uk. If you also look in any after 1960 Norton twin Domminator parts book, and look at the section concerning the frame, you will see the side stand displayed as drwing at the bottom of the frame drawing page. The prop stand in the RGM catalouge is also shown as a picture on page 43 and is listed a 1879 to make it easier to find in their catalouge.

I have a slimline Manxman cafe racer. I fitted a side stand which I bought from Les Emery, and it mounts to the left hand bottom tube. The only slight pain is that you have to fit the side stand before you fit the engine, as the engine gets in the way of the bracket.

hello My Norton Manxman 650 Did not come to me with a side stand So I converted a Kawasaki ZZR600 Chrome Side stand to fit by making my own engine pate two longer studs and domed nut at each end the stud made to fit right, and bracket made to fit over the bottom tube on the frame so the stand will not move round the frame like some side stands ,I have Seen ,The only thing I did with the ZZR stand Is cut off the switch mounting its not needed on a Norton and then its was a simple job of bolting the hole thing up , and it works a treat ,and does the job with out catching any where ,And because It chromed it looks nice too , Cost less than £30 yours Anna J
