Hello,
I am looking for a pair of oil damper tubes for my 1957 Dommie 88 roadholder forks. I think the correct part number is 16001 (F11M/627). Theoverall length of my originals is 8.25".
I bought a pair of what looked like the correct tubes at an auto jumble some (long) time ago - but now that I have come to the stage in my restoration project that I need them - I find that they are toolong (9.5" overall length).
Can anyone help me with where I may be able to obtain the correct ones - and does anyone want the ones I bought at the auto jumble?
Thanks,
Aston

Are you sure that your originals are in fact original? The tubes from my 1959 99 measure 7 5/8" without the cap on, taken from the top to the seating face, or 7 3/4 including the lower spigot.
Are you including the additional length of the cap in your measurements? If so, your 8.25" would probably be about 7 7/8" and your 9.5" could be 8 7/8" Commando ones. There are other odd sizes out there to suit different stanchions of the hybrids.
As long as you have standard Dominator 21 7/8" stanchions, I believe you will want part 20253

And one thing I hate about this board is that you can't edit your tryping errors after submission. Above post should read 7 5/8", not 7 7/8" in the second paragraph. Goodnight, I'm off to the rotary owners club board now, which always works perfectly!

Thank you Robin - so sorry to be late replying to you.
Been a bit preoccupied moving house (don't do it!!) and - at the moment I can't find anything in all the boxes in the garage. When I can, I will re-look and re-measure.
I am sure that the tubes are original though. I have owned the bike since the late 60's and am looking forward to getting it back on the road again rather than just looking ata heap ofbits!
Thanks again,
Aston

Unfortunately Robin has quoted the old factory part number. The superceded number is 069223A. Currently £40.37 each (+VAT) from Norvil, who give 7 3/4" as overall length.

Hi.Yes I'd like to do a swap. The tubes I have are definitely the ones for short roadholders (not Commando) being 7&5/8" long. They are in very good condition. I own a 1960 ES2 & a 58 Dommi and these are part of my own stock of spares. However I'm rebuilding a set of long roadholders for another bike and I'm using Commando stanchions (which are only a fraction shorter than the original long RH stanchions) and so need Commando dampers as well. Please contact me at iansallen@live.com.Cheers.Ian.

Hi Aston,
I am afraid I don't know of a source for you, but I thought you might enjoy this link with Mick Hemmings showing a step by step instruction on rebuilding the Roadholder forks:
