I had one that was a thin nut that fitted on the end of the existing nut. When I stripped the bike down for a total rebuild there was only half of it left. Something had eaten it. Moths probably.

i think it was my previous post you recall. The RGM seal wouldn't fit and I returned it. The Dave Comeau seal was perfect and cheaper to buy.

RGM were only selling the large nut with seal - for Dominators. For the Commando, I had to get the thin nut with seal from Norvil

No experience of the Comeau seal but have heard they can just hold on by 1 thread if the existing dimensions are not beneficial!. Alternative ways to stop or slow oil migration are a groove and 'O' ring about an inch in from the clutch end (depth of groove appx. 0.040" and a ring to suit so its just proud of the surface). That has worked for me for 8 or 9 years now. Or, cut the shaft in half, remove 1/4" and add a 1/4" ball bearing. Its probably a good idea to surface harden the cut ends with one of those powder compounds the cherry red shaft gets dipped in. Haven't used that stuff for years..........last time was in '85 on a clutch pushrod for my old Camaro. That worked well for hardness and was a 3/8" rod.
