Boyer 3 - phase Powerbox

Forums

Hi all - I'm rather tempted by the Norvil Electric Starter kit. It comes complete with a 180w Single Phase alternator. My 850Mk2A has a 3-phase alternator wired to a Boyer 3-phase Powerbox controller i.e. the alternator has three wire connections (which all works well). I realise that this alternator setup would be physically too large for the electric start conversion (thus Norvil/Alton supplying the new alternative). My question - could I wire the Alton/Norvil alternator to just two wires on the Powerbox and get satisfactory results ? - I don't really want to fork-out for another regulator.

Cheers

Hi Mark

I think theAlton alternator probably would work with the Powerbox using just 2 of the alternator inputs but you may have less output at low RPM than your present setup.

I presume Alton have kept the output ofthe alternator down to 150 watts so that it can be used with original rectifier and zenner diode. If you still have your old rectifier and zenner you could just re connect them
