Hi All I have a hybred Matchy ,norton motor and g/box .When i went to drain the g/box oil ,i went to the rear lower area of the g/box to what i thought was the drain plug .When i removed the plug (which is larger than a commando) i foundit was adetent plunger set into the plug .

Hi Steve,

I think that you've removed the cam-plate plug spring and detent plunger which faces the rear of the crank-case. Look at the bottom rear of the gearbox and the drain plug faces the rear wheel. I tried to download a picture but this site only allows miniscule jpeg files,

Rob.

Hi Steve, There is a possibility that some one has replaced the correct plug with the nearest thing to hand. As far as I'm aware the drain plugs are the same as those on your Commando gearboxes although there may be a difference with the threads, Regards, Rob.

Attachment is a photo of an AMC gearbox shell. This is from a Norton but the drain plug is roughly in the same area on the hybrid's box. On the other side are the camplate shaft end nut andthe selector shaft end nut. Towards the bottom should be the camplate detent spring cover/nut which is generallya larger size than the others.
