Can anyone tell me where the Slide Cutaway number is measured from? I've currently got a No 3 cutaway and want to try a 3.5. My Idea is to alter the other No 3 that I have sitting doing nothing to the dimensions of a 3.5, if someone has a 3.5 or a 4 that they can give me sizes from I'll have a wee bash at altering my spare No 3 to suit.Ok buying a 3.5 would be easy but why not have a wee go with a half round file and a bit of fine emery ?

Had a root through my "Box of bits" today and found the slide that I was going to take my file to was already marked up as 3.5, saves me a job, bonus!
Now I'm 99.9% that this is what I want but when you look at the table on the Amal site http://www.amalcarb.co.uk/TechnicalDetail.aspx?id=11%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0 it says that it should be stamped as 3 1/2?
I suppose 3.5 is easier to stamp than 3 1/2, is this correct or does anyone know different?
