My 1962 Dominator 88SS has a motif on the front of the headlamp. The plastic centre shows a Lion (rampant), but the aluminium surround has degraded and it is no longer secure.
Are these standard Dommy items and can I get a replacement to fill the hole? I have sen other bikes with similar motif's in place, but they all appear different!

I used Nitromors on my headlamp and destroyed the rampant lion completely, not realising it was plastic. It's a few years ago now, but I got a replacement from Norvil although it wasn't the same, not having the surround and it is glued into place from the underneath. Fills the hole, but you'd be disappointed if it's originality you're after.

Old fashioned office box files have a finger hole with an aluminium or stainless 'bezel around it to stop the cardboard ripping, some of these are a perfect fit to replace the surround. fit it to the shell and then file the plastic badge to fit in it and glue it in, it will look dead original if you're careful. Somebody on Ebay is selling the medallions with the surround but I don't know if they're any good, I would expect them to fit themselves for thirty-odd quid!
MINE has a red panthers head in it because I took the shell off a scrap Panther M120 that was thrown in the brook near my Nans house to put on my 99, those were the days, now those Panther medallions are worth more than I paid for some Nortons....

Here is my solution to a missing Lucas badge. Took and old IOM pin, ground the clasp off the back, soldered a screw on, made an aluminum surround, and voila!

Trevor,
Check the post out below, it may be the answer, the part number is Norvil.

I made one from an old alloy sealing washer for the oil tank feed (042065). A bit of careful filing and polishing then a dab of superglue to attach it to the headlamp shell. It looks practically indistinguishable from the real thing and cost nothing.

G'day Trevor,
These are usually a press in Aluminiom blank that has a similar "lion" to enclosed scan of an old Lucasdecal.
I purchased one for my 650SS from Norvil.
Good luck!
