56 Dominator front brake question -- follow up

Forums

Pretty much ready to go; bodges removed (see previous post), ready to order front brake cable. Checking with various suppliers, I find the brake cable clevis pin (that links cable to brake arm) offered in two configurations. 1.: drilled with a hole to take a split pin. 2.: machined with a groove to take a circlip. Is either better/more original?

Mine's original as far as I know - '58 dommi - and it is the split pin type. Wouldn't trust a circlip on that myself, you wouldn't know the clevis pin had fallen out until you had to brake...

If you check an online auction site there is one for sale with shoes but I see a spring for retaining the shoes missing. Worth a look

Your last picture was far better than the first, and, I now agree that it looks like the correct lever. In the first photo, it appeared to be alloy, and, the shadow of the spring made it look curved. I agree with Martin, a split pin is far better than a circlip, and is easier to fit/remove.
