hello, i have heard an expert say the dynamo engine is weak around the d/s main bearing area. if anyone has weld strengthened this area, possibly for racing, could you post a photo of what you did? also i need to crind t/s main oil seal bearing down to a undersize. anyone recomend a seal size or stockist for the oversize oil seal? finally, i need a r/h +40 66mm piston - with the valve pockets. a good used one might do but must be hepolite. thanks for looking.

On very good authority the generator cases are stronger in this area than the alternator cases, as they are not machined out so much there. A very good forum thread on the history and tuning of Norton Dominator 500 twins can be found here: http://www.britbike.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=346712&page=1

For your seal I would go talk to a supply house that specializes in bearings and seals, they usually can look up oddball stuff by the measurements you supply

thanks ben, i m enjoying the forum link you kindly supplied. i had a triumph which had strengthened cases, built up with weld and am looking towards adapting the drive side to accept a stator housing and alt cases . then i can use a modern ignition system and strobe accurately.

the forum tuners hint towards placing the crank on veblocks on a surface plate and measure everything with a height guage to avoid misalignment and distorted componants. good suggestions.
