My 71 Fastback commando has 29LJT25 bearings fitted, I can't find these bearings, does anybody know of a equivalent to use as a direct replacement.

If your 71 Commando has the early Dominator style yolks as has mine, it was designed to be fitted with cup and cone and ball bearings. The best replacement for these would be taper rollers. The sealed ball bearings are fitted to the later yolks and should be fitted with a spacer between the inner races. My 71 Commando (probably built in late 70) had been fitted with sealed ball bearings with no spacer, effectively using them as a pair of sealed cup and cone bearings. Probably not the best way to utilise a sealed ball bearing. Any bearing supplier should have taper rollers on the shelf to match the sizes of the ones you have removed.

Have a look on the www.accessnorton.com website under "TLS and Swing Arm question" there is some info on your 29LJT25 bearing being an axial load bearing. I would still probably replace with a set of taper rollers for peace of mind.

If the sealed deep groove bearings fit go with these. Greased for life and require no adjustment. They're designed to work with the spacer tube, so this is essential, available new £7.70.
