Identifying tank

Its not a factory tank so it will be a 3rd party tank, hopefully someone will recognise it, a picture of the botom would help to see if its a commando or featherbed tank.

Looks like an accessory caff racer tank for a slimline. I'm not aware of Norton using glass tanks pre Commando. Ducks awaiting incoming.....

If you look in Steve Wilson's: 'British Motorcycles Since 1950 Volume 4' there's an almost identical tank on a Gander and Gray Series 2 Royal Enfield Interceptor cafÃ? racer.

It has to be for a frame with widely splayed top tubes, or a central fuel tap would not work. That counts out Royal Enfield. Also it would not work with a central carburettor. Maybe a single with a carb angled out to one side. Then how about the front mounts? Very un- Norton or RE. They are more like those on AJS and Matchless; maybe for a 7R or G50?

That look very much like a Dresda tank for a Featherbed frame to me. I've seen a few Triton's etc with them on over the years. It will need sealing with an Ethanol proof sealer if you want to use it.

Hmm, seeing the tulips coming out of the tank in thefirst photo'sI thought it might be Dutch, possibly for use with a Gardner Carb?

I'm sure I've seen something similarsitting atop a trellis frame ...
