Howdy, I am currently rebuilding a Norton Commando Combat and have hit a snag, when I purchased the bike it didn't have any indicators or switches with it, but it was fitted with new Brake and Air lever assembly (Andover Norton) set up, all the Combats I have seen have an indicator switch set up, not sure what was supplied (Chassis Number 2001705), have asked around and have got conflicting messages, some say that the 72 Combat came with indicators and others say that it was an option. Can someone HELP! Cheers

Hi,
I had the same question I asked on another site and got a fairly comprehensive set of answers:

The long and the short seems to be that they were optional for some time and it varied by market(see link to brochure).
I have a US market re-import Combat (#205***) without indicators and plan to retro-fit. Some of the wiring connections are present on my loom but I think there is at least one link lead for the fronts and there maybe another needed for the rear. Can anyone confirm?
Other info I have picked up:
- Lucas currently make the original indicators but these are discretely marked with LAP on the back of the indicator bodies. Those fitted originally are marked 'Lucas' in the same place. Only an anorak would notice (yes, I have the 'Lucas' marked ones
). Both types are still available in the UK at about £50 a pair with 'real' overseas replicas available for much less.
- I recently spotted on eBay USA an originalNOS boxed kit to fit indicators which included all brackets and flasher unit.
- The other conundrum is whether long / short (or even intermediate) length indicator stems were used with any consistency. I think I lost the will to live at that point and will use what I have or what works best for me
