mk.3 or mk.4?

Forums

I Have a 1972 commando interstate the engine and frame are mid 204000 range. it was registered in the irish republic in may 1972 the fact is i don't know if it is a mk3 or a mk4 i need to replace the wiring loom as all i have done over the years are running repairs and even i don't know what wire goes where any more. i have seen mk.3 looms but no mk.4 are they one and the same. also i don't know if it is a combat engine i can't find a letter c stamped any where. thanks for reading happy Christmas and be safe. mike kenneally

I think you are confusing yourself. At the time your Commando was made there were no mk anythings. It's just a 1972 750 Commando, probably started life as a Combat version. If you buy a wiring loom for a 1972 750 it should be correct. This is the AN one.

72's before the decombat of the engine were MK4's. My harness form AN had a duff fuse holder, will be going back to using TMS for my next harness.

Mine from Norvil had a rubbish modern fuse holder that melted, used the one from the old loom to replace it. Looks like a theme developing here.

Thank you john and Alan it looks after market looms have suspect fuse holders. On futherl looking for information it said that 750cc used roman numerals to distinguish models ie.1V to depict mk4 how true that is I don't know. I wounder if any new old stock lucas looms still out there thanks all mike kenneally

Steer clear of the latest Lucas harness made by wassells, off errors on colour coding and hard plastic connector covers not the original soft plastic.
