Hi everyone , need some assurance that the Haynes manual is correct ? Does the oil pump only have ordinary reduced head nuts holding it down ? The studs I have measured at 1 5/8" long and when `bottomed out and tight ` in the case there isn`t hardly room for a full nut let alone any washers or spring washers . I`m taking heed of the gasket /no gasket advice on the pump itself depending on timing chest gasket thickness.

No washers. Shouldn't be needed. Nuts are down onto a flat machined bearing surface and studs are long enough to stretch enough to keep them tight.
