Norton Matchless G15 Mudguard Mounting

Forums

I am resurrecting a 1967 Norton Matchless G15CS basket case. I am missing the rear mudguard and all hardware associated with mounting it to the frame.

I see from the Norton parts manual that part #'s 03-2256 (mudguard support tube) and 03-0315 (rear frame loop) are required for this bike.I have located 03-0315 at Walridge in Canada and the picture indicates that this is the rear fender support loop that bolts to the frame where the top of the shock absorbers mount and extends rearward and bolts to the mudguard with two tabs near the tail lamp. Can anyone tell me what the 03-2256 part is and what it looks like? Thanks,Ed

032256 is the cross tube part of frame that is welded to the frame its self. This piece of tubing is used to attach the clamp, and two spacers with of course the nuts, bolts and washers to the top of the rear mudguard. There is also a bracket that bolts to therear engine plate that attaches the rear mudguard at the bottom. All these related part number are in the 1966,67,68 master parts book for the later P11, G15, and N15 models.

Thank you Anthony!!!

I've been trying to get this question answered for awhile. It puzzles me, though, that a part that normally comes as a welded in part of the frame would be listed separately as a replacement part.

I have the factory build book for the twins from 1968 to 1969 and the factory listed every casting and item that went to make up a brake pedal a part number as well as the parts that would be part of another component. So it would be frame lug casting or cylinder unfinished all would have a part number. Mike Partridge of Walridge Motors asked me this question many years ago as a customer order that part number. I explained it was that welded tubing or cross brass on the top of the frame of the G15. Those parts books have so many mistakes it would take an age to list them all. One being when a nut is really a washer. It was in a period of time from about 1966 through to 19/68/69 when money was very tight and the need to sell bikes being of the highest priority. The parts books from BSA, Triumph and Royal Enfield at the time made the Norton Matchless Division's parts books looks very second best and that is being very polite about their parts books and hand books of that period in time. The G15, N15, and the AJS 33 never did have a specific hand book but they were put in the Norton P106/P handbook of that period in time.
