1968 Fastback rear fairing alignment

Forums

I'm finally restoring a 1968 Fastback that was a basket case I've had for years. The builder is experienced in British motorcycles but there's a cosmetic problem that's vexing me. The rear fairing is drooping at the back, not lining up with the tank and side panels as in every photo I've seen of a Fastback. When we try shimming it over the frame tube to raise it, it interferes with the seat (which is an aftermarket replacement). Any ideas how to get this to align? Thanks!

Not sure if this helps. If the rear sub-frame has drooped a bit (very common on these models) then getting the seat and fairing level will be tricky.

On my Fastback Fairing the 2 front ears had slight cutaways that allowed them to drop behind the rear suspension top mounting bolts. In the Parts Book this shows the 2 ears with small holes instead. I think the ears on my fairing were shortened to help get all the bits level.
