Well it's back from the painters the yokes and forks are in, thanks for the advice on pulling the head bearings into place rather than bashing them into place with a hammer, that all went well, as did the head lamp bracket rubbers after I had put the forks into place.
The swing arm needed dressing where the paint had got in and stopped it fitting correctly, but it is fully assembled and oil filled and oil tight for the moment. I fitted the verner isolastics which were a breeze. Painted all the little brackets black which have been a pain with runs, the POR15 was totally useless and a waste of money in my opinion but there you go. Have decided to go with the interstate tank and side panels after slagging the looks against the roadster, but it will be a little different from a standard Interstate when I have it finished. I will keep all the original parts so it can be put back to standard if required in the future. Also looking at a single coil as opposed to the twin units your comments on the single coil would be appreciated.
I fitted the tank to get some measurements and found that it is extremely tight on the spine of the frame to the point of scratching the new paintwork and will have to be opened up before I get it painted.
I will leave the wiring till last as it is my weak point and would appreciate some help when the time comes if anybody lives in the bedford area.
I would like to fit a cut out switch to the side stand, based on my memory to put it up before riding off, obviously it will have to be a jap one has anybody here fitted one if so details would be appreciated.
Still buying all the little bits and pieces which tend to hold me up for a week or two, but have to say RGM are so quick on the postage and turn up the next day how they do it I don't know.

If you remove rear shocks…
If you remove rear shocks you can hold the cradle back with a strap then fit engine to front mount holding the head froward with another strap. Then lower the back of the engine by slowly releasing strap and at the same time bringing the cradle forward by releasing its strap. Makes it easy.
