Oil leak

Forums

I know this has been mentioned before but cannot find it.

I have a oil leak from the tacho drive ,it has had a new seal fitted some while back, but i seem to recall a modification that would fix it once and for all.

Any help much appreciated.

Andover Norton make a replacement drive housing with a lip seal.

Yes, it was developed by the late Fred Barlow. Fred told me himself. Works a treat...

Remember the lipped seal does not work with a scrolled drive spindle, you may need a new spindle as well.

Mine only worked when a new Cable was also fitted.

looking in Norman Whites book, Norman mentions a Honda oil seal conversion. Also in Mick Hemmings DVD, Mick mentions performing a mod for a normal oil seal conversion on the tacho

Done this tacho drive conversion about 40 years ago using the Honda oil seal John mentioned.

I done a lot of miles in those days and discovered the tacho drive spindle used to dry out and needed greased regularly.
