Tight bend - RH header pipe

The right hand (when sitting on bike) header pipe on my 74 850 commando has a tighter bend coming out of the head the the left pipe. The left one just comes straight out of the head, the right angles towards the centre of the bike. 

Tried looking at pictures and most I see appear to both be running straight out of the head.

Are yours the balanced pipes that were factory fitted or later fitted non balanced which were normally used as the balanced pipes were problematical with splits and not made for periods of time so unavailable. I have a balanced set to look at tomorrow but they are MK3 as the MK2a ones are no longer made. There are some real rubbish pipes around.

Proper exhaust pipes on both the Dominator and Comando Twins were made with different header lengths in order to compensate for the centre-line of the engine being around 5mm to the left of the frame centre-line. The photo show a set of pipes as such.

The engine offset does not justify that curve but it may have been original for 72 at least but not for MK3 and also not my current pre MK3 flanged set.

Photos attached are of set of MK3 pipes with balance pipe and a set of unbalanced pipes current on the bike but due to be replaced. Neither have that step in the pipe but it has been seen before.

Note that I retained the spherical seat from the MK3 setup for the unbalanced set with the flange type earlier unbalanced pipes, I find I can then move the pipe around a bit more and ensure the kickstart missed the timing side pipe by tucking it in more. Hence you can see the timing side one does not come out exactly straight, if I did not use the spherical seat it would come out straight.
