Hi. I have a late model1973 Commando that doesn't have the tube coming out of the oil pump. Which would hold the seal to the out timing cover in place. Is this correct?
Yes, missing and needed. It is available separately but no part number in the 73 parts book.
Thanks for the reply. I've found the part at Andover Norton. Must have been used without it for some time!
I hope not as this would limit the oil getting to the big ends. Hopefully it was just forgotten when the oil pump was possibly serviced.
Despite searching the Roadhoder Index I can't find anything about this 5" spanner test for the oil pump. What is it?
Sorry guys - I've popped this under the wrong tread. It should be under "1928 16H oil pump required".
Although if you know the answer.......
Hi Ian. I'm not sure what happened to it. I'm hoping it just feel out when I removed the timing cover. The engine appears in really good shape so perhaps that's what happened. Regards Peter
Can do, that is why it is a good idea to have a spare or two. That and the gasket should be your final check when refitting the cover. They are crushed in use and should not be reused.
