Hi, help anyone? Just bought a 1972 commando. It has. Decompression lever on the handlebar. Can anyone explain how to use it?

I have never seen a Commando…
I have never seen a Commando with a decompression lever - that doesn’t mean they don’t exist . Forgive me for asking but are you possibly confusing the air slide (choke ) lever for a compression release ? Can you post pictures?

If it is a decompression device ,I WANT ONE!, old age and some spinal damage makes kicking over a 99 painfull.
