Hi learned peeps! I have an early Commando inner/outer chaincase cover I think?
It's a single bolt fixing(outer) but the shape of the clutch "bulge" is rounded not square like the one on my Norvil. There is 6 fixing holes for the crankcase, 3 have been filled with an alloy plug.
I'm just what model it's from.
Cheers
Paul

Thanks Peter, I would have…
Thanks Peter, I would have put a photo of it but, I wrote the message on the laptop & it's a PIA to transfer photos from phone to laptop.
Note to myself, USE THE PHONE MORE!!
Anyway, there's 5 holes in total, so looks like someone's tried to modify it for something else.
Cheers
Paul

Why did the factory change the design?
If the original chaincase design lasted such a short time it was presumably unsatisfactory in some way. Does anyone know what the problem was?

Commando chaincase
Agree with post by Peter Weait.
The 3 extra holes enable the angle of the engine to change in relation to primary and gearbox to fit in a wasp sidecar motocross frame. I have seen them slotted radially for the same reason.

Hi Paul A photo would help but do you think three of the holes have been added, if so we had to re drill when the engine was put in a Wasp moto-X sidecar frame. The pointed clutch outer case was for 1968/69 Commando. Hope this may be some help
