MK3 Sidepanel Bracket with no Airbox

Forums

Hi all,

I am rebuilding my MK3 and am doing away with the Airbox, Oldbritts.com sell a bracket that holds the LH side panel when the airbox bracket is not there.

Unfortunately Oldbritts do not ship outside the US, has anyone got dimensions of the bracket so i can make one. I will happily pay anyone for a drawing that can help me make one as im not wanting something for nothing.

Kind regards,

Ian

Hi Ian

I made one for my Interstate in 2007 using stainless steel flat bar and a threaded insert as in the pic below

Not sure the dimensions would be much good as it was a bespoke fit for my side panel but you could fit your panel to the required position and make a bracket lining up to the panel hole

You can make a temporary pattern with weetabix packet as I did or light aluminium sheet

Most of us use whatever we have, Ian. I certainly didn't make a drawing !. I used a piece of dural sheet and filed a hole square so that I could continue to use the dzus fastener, but there have been several incarnations, dependent upon what was in the scrap bin.

It's easiest to begin with a cardboard template and offer it up.
