Wiring harness cables

Forums

Ihave searched the messageson wiring harness and not found theinfo I need, so I need to throw itopen to you good people.

The intention is to make up my own wiring harness as per the wiring diagram, using the correct colour coding and most importantly giving me extra lengthon some/most of the cables (with the option of re-routing)

SO...where can I buy the multi strand/multi colour (trace)cable that I need ? Also what rateing do I need on the wire?

My Google searches have not been a great help and to date can only find SOLID coloured (trace)cable.

Any help appreciated. Regards JMB

Also check out Richard Deeks Trading. I think he's from Cheshire but attends lots of Auto Jumbles. I think he has most things electrical and is very good on price. Sorry I can't find his contact details.

Always used Vehicle Wiring Products. Ask them to send you a catalogue, very informative and will help you decide which rating/gauge you need. They will have all the colours you require.

Just a little tip - if you're not worried about originality, use the Japanese type connectors which are neater and more weatherproof than the old bullets.

hello what the machine in question ! You may find that buying a complete harness may be cheaper than making your own. you need to think about it and way up the costs first don't rush in to anything before hand take you time over it, and do the research first. yours anna j

I'd recommend contacting our very own Al Osborn.

He'll supply a kit of correct colours and traces without the need to buy huge quantities if each. Plenty of tech support if you need it too.

Thanks Richard, trust you are well.

Yes I do a kit of wires to rewire the average Commando for £33, it includes a coloured chart of the cables supplied, tubing, correct set of connectors, some self amalgamating tape and even a new fuse holder.

(we do NOT use dodgy mains cable or even stupid trailer cable as some on here recomend)

Please get in touch

Al Osborn.
