Vernier Isolastic adjustment question

I have a 72 Commando with replacement vernier isolastics. They may well be Mick Hemmings ones as most previous work and spares emm to have come from that source.

1) A fair amount of high frequency vibes, not the glassy smooth I have had on previous commandos. No perceptible change at the 2500 rpm threshold

2) Have adjusted by slacking off nuts from both ends and use a small hex spanner in the little holes to rotate the adjuster by 1/4 turns then tightening up nuts and testing with a short ride

3) No perceptible difference in vibration.

Is this the correct procedure? Any suggestions?

I don't know any of the aftermarket conversions but assume that they use bonded Mk3 rubbers ?

The procedure that you're using sounds pretty much that which many of us have used on Mk3s.

There were some rubbers which were far too hard some years back and they transmitted vibration however loose they were set. They were certainly rough to 3500 rpm or beyond.

If this is the case, there isn't much you can do without changing rubbers.

Which head steady have you got ? A tightly shimmed Norvil steady, especially if everything is not dead square will result in a lot of harshness.

I agree with Richard on the norvil head steady. Very difficult to set up without shaking your fillings out or beating the fuel tank to death
