Stopping Mk2a

Forums

This problem was previously listed in error on Heavy Twins.

Thank you to all the people who responded. We have not been able to solve this issue as the bike will now not start.

One perplexing thing has arisen, when you press the kill switch with the ignition on and the plugs out they spark.

Is this normal? and if not what is going on?

All thoughts welcome.

Depends on the ignition system installed, with a Boyer you will get a spark, it's included in their fault finding write up.

You will get one spark as the coil power is cur off then no further sparks if you keep the button pressed meaning the engine will stop.

Unlike more modern bikes but like many older ones if you let go of the button before the engine has stopped spinning it will often restart as power is once again given to the ignition system. So when out riding ensure the engine has fully stopped before releasing the button.
