Speedo & Tacho

Forums

Hi again I did say when I joined you might be inundated with qustions and maybe I was right, my speedo and tacho appear to be original they both have a blue and white arrow with a right angled bend as what appears to be a trade mark they are both marked made in France and one has a damaged bezel is this replacable and what make are my clocks many thanks Chris

Veglia or also nicknamed Vaugelia due to their wayward idea of accuracy. My 850 has them and I have to use GPS to be able not to get caught by speed camera's.

Stuart is the guy. He can strip and estimate. Did a very good job. Mine needed a full rebuild so was more than I expected.

You can buy the bezels and glass separately from the above site and RGM do them too.

Stuart at Classic  Speedometers only works on genuine Smiths magnetic clocks, not on anything else (or at least that is what he tells me). However, Ashley Pople of Speedo Repairs has done Veglias for me in the past. Whether he can still do so you will need to ask though.

The bezels are a different diameter Smiths vs. Veglia.

They look like the Veglia on my MK2a which has green globes instead of the wiggle the MK3 got. The font of the speeds and rpm plus the fat needle differentiate them from the Smiths. On a Smiths the numbers on the bottom edge of the dial on the speedo will end with1000 signifying the numbers of revs per mile the clock is expecting. The Veglia has a long part number and made in France.

The other major difference is the body below the bezel, Smiths is shorter and painted black, Veglia is zinc plated steel and fills the holder as its longer. The Smiths needs stand offs to fit the holder.
