Roadster tank

Like you, I spent ages trying to find a good original but nothing was available. I did some research and it seemed the only reproduction tank that was any good was the one being produced in Taiwan. Easy way to tell this tank apart from the awful Indian ones is a steel bracing strap that is fitted on the bottom of the tank during transit. I bought one and the quality is very good and the fit is perfect. Took it to FD Motorcycles for painting and they had very good things to say about this tank and had fitted quite a few without incident. My tank went on without any issues (in fact it went on a lot easier than many genuine parts)! 6 months on and no problems and it looks great. There are a couple on eBay, of Feked do them:

Think this might be my first post! Bought a non-runner with fibreglass tank. Bought a steel tank on eBay. Just checked no more available. But the quality was rather surprising for £175. Itâs in primer at the moment have a friend who can do a professional finishing job. Watch this space....

Its never been filled with petrol containing ethanol so its undamaged. You can seal it with Tapox seal from the NOC shop and it will be good for ever.

A quick bit of googling reveals that Tapox is not suitable for fibreglass tanks.

Flowliner from Wylde's is claimed to be suitable for fibreglass and plastic tanks.

Sorry, should have just written.... A siutable sealer.

I think theres quite a few that are good for fibreglass though.

If they say they are resistant to ethanol then that means there is no comeback when (not if) they fail, only if they say ethanol proof are you covered in UK.

One thing I forgot to mention is to test fit your fuel cap before painting your tank. I noticed the filler neck sits slightly deeper in the reproduction tanks and if you try to pull the cap back too far it may contact the paintwork. (I used a new CEANDESS cap).

FD placed a tiny weld on the neck as a 'positive stop' for the cap. This may not be needed on all tanks, but worth a mention before spending hundreds on fresh paint!
