Rear hub cover screws

Forums

Are these the correct screws to hold the rear hub "cover" on with?

I currently have a mixture of horrible ones!

Technically they are not the correct fixings as they should be milled rivets, but, these would be OK where there are re-drilled holes in the casting due to the non removal of the original rivet previously.

hope this helps,

Spark erosion is one answer but is it worth the cost or the effort and time?

Even though the screws are not correct, they are easier to remove and replace the aluminium cover.

Ridiculous price for six stainless steel pan-head self-tapping screws. Try Screwfix? They're useful for other non-Norton jobs.

I filled mine with JB Weld then drilled and tapped them - looks nice!

Not for the rivet counting purist, but a practical solution that works well for me!

They have to package them, print an address label, and an invoice, and pay for postage. That's a couple of quid. That leaves about 30p a screwsurprise..... sounds cheap to me!

Try Mr. Ebay for small quants of stainless or any other screws. ScrewFix are excellent but you usually need to buy fairly large quantities. On E-B you can get them in 10s usually. I'm upgrading screws in and on my motorhome - changing BZP to stainless on places like the gas cooker ring, door hingesand grillfixings - very small metric threads. I mention this just to illustrate how available they are.
