I am trying to work out how the brake pedal return spring should be fitted to my wideline. The only way I can see that it will go means that the spring would end up pushing the pedal down - clearly not what is intended!
One end of the spring engages in a hole in the back of the pedal and, I assume, that the other end is meant to fit behind the right-angled stop plate?
It is possible that I have an unmatched set of parts and this is what is casuing the problem - are there two types of spring perhaps?
The brake pedal has a cast part number of 19994 whereas all the parts books I have list 19995 - is this a clue perhaps?
Can anyone help - ideally post a photograph/diagram?
Thanks

I have just searched themessages and found the following post from last year under 'Singles' that would seem to answer my own question;
1960 Model 50 rear brake pedal reassembly
This seems to show that the spring is 'unwound' (rather than 'wound' as I had assumed) when the pedal is pushed down. It also mentions a spacer (19997) that I don't have - I will have to make one!
Hi Colin, glad you posted this as I have been having the same uncertainty trying to replace my brake pedal several years after I removed it. I'm sure you're sorted by now but if you need the dimensions of that spacer I can oblige. Cheers.
