Praise where praise is due

Forums

Hi, I just thought that this was worth a mention as i feel good deeds often just pass by these days without due praise. Being, and as i've since discovered, like so many others, new to the ownership of the Norton that you always wanted when you had more spots than cash, found myself stupidly a touch windy when it came to the more surgical repair and even, dare i say, some of the simple ones too. I say stupidly because i am a plant fitter by trade and nothing mechanical has really fazed me over the past thirty odd years, but the fear of embarrassing oneself at the hands of this 42 year old piece of mechanical wonderment is just too much to bear. Every rattle, knock and squeak any tiny drip or secretion of oil each failure to start first kick brought on immediate palpations followed by several sleepless nights. That was until i met John. John Dunn is the Commando man detailed in the back pages of RoadHolder. Out of one of my many panic attacks one day I rung him, possibly asking something stupid like should the plug gap be 25 or 26 thou. John sensing my lack of Commando confidence recommended i call round to see him, which i dutifully and gladly did. He fed me tea, showed me pages of detailed modifications, recommended a few simple alterations, talked endlessly on engine specifications relating to my model and generally put me at ease. That was over a year ago and still he puts up with my occational pathetic e-mail. I would hate for John to now be inundated with newbies like me asking him daft questions, but somehow feel he wouldn't mind because he's just that sort of bloke. So Thank you John.

Mark.

Well said Mark, I found John very helpful regards my Mk 3 Commando's single concentric conversion.. Just happens John has the same set up on his.so his advice helped lots in the set up.

While I was at it I asked john for advice in putting together my 650ss into the frame. (I'm used to singles) Superb advice there too. One of the NOCunsung hero's. A real treasure.
