Maurice,

I think a 1974 850 would be a Mk.lla (or a Mk.ll in the USA) rather than a Mk.l but the blue for that year was Pacific Blue with Silver lining (2 lines on an 850).

My notes indicate that the Engine/Frame Nos. for 1974 ran from 308360.

There was a Black with Gold lining option for 1974 so if you wanted to continue with black, that would not be out of order. The Factory Records are very unlikely to help you find out the original colour.

Chris, do you know the correct colour blue for the late 750 and 1973mk1 850's? A darker non metallic blue.

Hi Chris Thanks for the reply,I have today found the registration certificate and it was registed in 1973, and the engine /frame number starts 3040, I guess it would make a 850 mk1.

Maurice,

Yes, that number precedes the Mk.la, so a Mk.l it will be. For that year, I have Blue with White lining however. I don't have a specific reference to the previously mentioned Pacific Blue for 1974 so was the 1973 blue the same colour? I don't know.

Paul Nicholls [see his posting above] suggests that it was different and darker - I think I recognise that colour, it's almost a muddy blue colour and heading towards the direction of a navy blue.

Hi Chaps

Coincidentally - I'm looking for the correct shade of Yellow to paint my 1969 Commando 750 'S Type'? Someone once told me that it was similar to a Renault Yellow - Does anyone have the original spec?

Hello Peter,

I have had my 1970 Roadster re-painted with Ferrari Gallio Fly Yellow which is the nearest match I could find to the original. Checkout the colouron Google images which shows a lot of super Ferrari's.

Regards,

Paul.
