Main fuse rating

could someone please tell me the main fuse rating , the manual states 35amp(17.5 continuous rating) ?which means nothing to me

would a modern blade type fuse rated at 20 amps be man enough for the job

You should be able to get the correct 35A fuse with its holder from Commando spares suppliers - try Norton Andover. I had no problem getting the holder and spare fuses a couple ofyears back.Fit it in the negative battery cable close to the battery terminal (Commandosbeing positive earth). As for rating , 35 amp means 35 amp - using a lower rated fuse will invite possible electrical failure.

35 amp is the blow rating and is the same as 17.5 amp continuous which is the modern method, so you should repalce the old 35 amp with a modern blade of either 15 or 20 amp.

hi all

Thanks for the replies, I'll go with the twenty amp option at the moment, until I can get some larger rated fuses,(next time near halfords)

I only asked the question because my original in-line fuse had corroded that bad that the glass broke whilst trying to dis-assemble the plastic fitting to check if the fuse had blown,

I was ar--hole lucky to break down yards from my workplace, and could solder the original fuse element back into a circuit, My advice to other members, check your fuse holder periodically, it could save you a load of grief

new 35 amp fuses now purchased and will be put into service as soon as the new replacement 20amp fuse blows,( if it ain;t broke leave it alone attitude)
