Magneto cutout wire run?

Forums
I've just removed the RITA and replaced the magneto on my Dommie. I'm fed up with all my scruffy wiring! But I can't remember how the original white cut-out wire ran. I haven't found any photos - does anyone know where Norton ran it originally - and (hopefully) making a tidier job than I've managed? A photo would be gratefully viewed/received.

well you need to take it to a earth to stop the engine via a switch or stop button on the handle bar right hand side somewhere near you throttle as emergance stop , its nomal a white wire i drill the center of my handle bar and then took the wire thought the centre of the handle bar to the stop button and like me you can wire in a stop switch under the seat in the tool tray, if you know how too do loop wiring

hope this may help yours ajd

On mine the wire runs from the magneto end cover and joins the main loom at the top frame rail. It emerges from the main loom at the steering head and from there runs to the kill button. If you go for the neat through the handlebars option, make sure there are no sharp edges where you drill the hole (a grommet might be a good idea) or you could find yourself suffering a mysterious misfire.

Thanks to you both. It doesn't look right just floating in space between the mag and the top rail. It's been over 10 years since I had the mag - I don't even remember if the correct wire is still buried in the loom.Maybe I'll get it fired up today with its new pistons... fingers crossed. And big boots on..

The original position, of the cut-out button on early Dominators, was on the frame (left side) under the dual seat. "Kill switches" were unheard of, in the pre "Elf & safety" days! There was also a friction adjustment on the twist grip, so the throttle didn't close when you signalled a right turn, M.O. T. failure today?

To keep the cut-out wire tidy on my (shock, horror) BSA, I ran the 2 HT leads through a 4" length of sleeving and routed the mag cut-out wire through that. Quite neat in fact.

Anna... how do you propose to de-burr the inside of the hole you drilled in the handlebar ???? That is to stop the wire insulation from cutting through on the sharp edge ???

De-buring is done by a reamer smaller size than the drill size fit rubber gromit before the wire, ! and I have the under seat switch has well, al in a loop wiring system stop button right hand side near the trottle as EMG stop Yours anna j
