Interpol tank

Forums

I am thinking of selling my 1974 Commando Interpol tank, firstly I would like to see what interests there is for these tanks, it's steel and good condition no rust or dents, no radio box the penials (think they call them that ) have been filled in, I would also like to know the value.

The Interpol Tank is similar to the long range fastback tank. Its based on the Dominator shape with a base to fit the Commando. I had a LR tank on my Fastback for a short time but it was a poor fit and rattled badly. The long range tank holds 4 gallons. Being steel it should be better able to withstand ethanol and a magnetic tank bag will fit nicely. I wouldn't think it was worth more than £50 but put it on the for sale board and see what transpires.

Which Interplod tank ? 1974 would be around the point that they changed from the Fastback LR style to an Interstate tank, sometimes with extra fittings and sometimes plain as many forces had discontinued tank-top equipment.

That is indeed the Fastback Long-Range style tank. They are a bit of an odd thing and often take some careful fitting if used with the double-sided coil bracket.

Although the style is not that sort-after, ethanol problems ought to mean that any steel tank should be quite saleable.

Value in my view would depend largely on the condition of the inside of the tank, the fixing studsand the threads for mounting the petrol taps.

Michael: Of course the worth of the tank is what anyone is willing to pay for it. The big question is how do you get the message out there? You can place an advert on this the website and in the Roadholderasking for bids or you can place an ad on ebay looking for the best bid. To protect yourself you can place a minimum bid on the item. Good luck.......

I have 3 of these tanks with the recess for the radio, they cost me £40 to £60 ea, I use them with an Interstate seat with the mounting ears moved a couple inches backwards. Advantages are, they are steel, bigger than a roadster but not as big and bulky as an Interstate. Without the radio recess it wojld be worth more but not much more. I bought all mine on ebay and was the sole bidder on all.
