Hi fellow commando owners, since I've had old copies of road holder which I've found very interesting and enjoyable I came across early Mick Hemmings adverts when he was selling Rob North type frames for commandos, did any of you build up a bike or have one with these frames and if so what were they like? Seeley always gets a popular mention
thanks.....Ady

Only one I know of. Built by Howard Lally of Hybrid Motorcycles when he worked for Rolls Royce Aero engines at Leavesden. Has a 920 engine and he had the crank balanced 3 times to get the vibes in the right place.

Mick Hemmings built about 5 of these bikes to race but because the Norton works racers were never fitted with the Rob North frame he was not allowed to race them. Triumph works racers were fitted with them and that is where the triumph's Domination of the 750 class started.
A work colleague of mine got one from a guy who just wanted an old CBR600 to run around on so swapped it. I was dead jealous and it came with a ton of Commando tat, some ok some not so. You could guarantee that it would vibrate, be uncomfortable and go like stink. Not much cop on the road but nice all the same.
